Traveling With SpiceQuest

Pack securely, keep spice off the table, and give the thumb-cap a regular check.

Before you leave

Put the rubber cap on.

Hands fitting the black rubber cap over the bottom base of a SpiceQuest grinder.

Slide the rubber cap over the bottom base of the grinder and gently press it into place. It helps contain loose spice while you travel.

Replace it after grinding, before returning the grinder to its case.

A snug fit in the case.

A SpiceQuest grinder sitting inside its fully opened black travel case.

Open the case completely. Place one end of the grinder inside at a slight angle, then gently slide the rest into place. Avoid pressing the push-button top.

The grinder should fit snugly before you zip the case closed. That close fit helps limit movement in transit.

When you’re ready to use it

Remove the cap carefully.

Hands carefully easing the rubber cap off the grinder base.

Spice can collect inside the rubber cap. Take it off slowly and carefully so the collected spice doesn’t spill onto you or the table.

Hold the grinder body as you ease the cap off. Check inside for loose spice and wipe it out before putting the cap back on.

Bring the acrylic holder when you can.

Your acrylic holder gives your grinders a place to rest at a restaurant or wherever you’re eating. Use it before and after grinding to help keep loose spice off the table.

No holder with you?
Set the grinder upside down or on its side on a stable surface where it won’t roll. Avoid resting the uncovered grinding base directly on the table.

After time on the move

Check the thumb-cap regularly.

Micro-vibrations during travel can gradually unscrew the thumb-cap at the top of the grinder. Check it regularly, especially after traveling. This is separate from the rubber cap that covers the bottom.

To tighten it, hold the grinder body, gently pull the spring down away from the cap, then twist the thumb-cap clockwise until snug.
