No. 11 Hellraiser: what is in it and how hot it tested

No. 11 Hellraiser is the top of the SpiceQuest 1 to 11 scale. It tested at about 3,500,000 Scoville heat units (SHU), and it contains natural capsaicin extract. Its product page does not name the peppers in the blend, so this page does not name them either.

The last step on the scale

No. SpiceQuest chili grinder Tested SHU Natural capsaicin extract
9 Reaper X, our pure Carolina Reaper 975,612 No
10 Carolina Reaper 2,235,842 May contain some
11 Hellraiser about 3,500,000 Yes

No. 11 tested at about 3.6 times no. 9 and about 1.6 times no. 10. Against no. 1 Pequin, at 33,261, it is about 105 times as hot.

On our tier list it is Nuclear, the tier that starts at 3,000,000. It is the only numbered grinder in that tier. How the eleven numbers work is in What the SpiceQuest 1 to 11 scale means.

What we can say about what is in it

Two things are certain. No. 11 is a blend, and it contains natural capsaicin extract in addition to pepper. It is one of the grinders listed on our natural capsaicin extract page.

The no. 11 Hellraiser product page does not list which peppers go into it. We would sooner leave that blank here than guess.

What the product page says about taste

Very little. It gives no flavor notes. It says that if you like Reaper X and want something far more intense, this is the grinder for you. That is a fair summary of where it sits: past both Reaper grinders, for someone who has already used them.

Who it suits and how it is sold

No. 11 suits one kind of person: someone who already eats superhots and finds no. 10 comfortable. For anyone else, pick a lower number.

It is not in the Pro Kit, which holds no. 1 to no. 10. It is sold alone, in the Full Spectrum Bundle, which is the Pro Kit plus no. 11, and in the Full Burn Bundle with Sweetheat and PepperPlegic Chocolate Primotalii.

Start with one press. Keep it away from children, and read our ultra-hot safety page before you open it.
